A Jehovah's Witness convicted in Kirov has left Russia.
A Polish citizen, Andriy Onyshchuk, convicted in Kirov for his involvement with the banned religious organization "Jehovah's Witnesses" in Russia, has left the country after serving his sentence.
It is reported that on June 3, 2026, the man completed his designated term, after which he received an order to leave the country within ten days. He was also banned from entering Russia for eight years.
According to the organization that disseminates information about the case, Onyshchuk lived in Kirov for almost 30 years. He built a family here, engaged in entrepreneurial activities, and resided permanently. He left for Poland with his wife.
The criminal prosecution of the man began in October 2018. At that time, mass searches were conducted in Kirov among followers of "Jehovah's Witnesses." Andriy Onyshchuk spent almost a year in a pre-trial detention center.
In June 2022, the court found him guilty and sentenced him to six and a half years of conditional imprisonment with a probation period. The man was also prohibited from leaving Kirov without permission and was required to regularly report to the supervising authorities.
Earlier, several other residents of Kirov were convicted in connection with the same criminal case.
