Fraudsters stole over 764 million rubles from residents of the Kirov region.

      In the Kirov region, since the beginning of 2026, 1,962 people have fallen victim to remote scammers. This was reported by the regional prosecutor's office. Over the course of a week, the list of victims has increased by another 30 residents of the region.

      According to the agency, over six months, the criminals have stolen 764.1 million rubles from the residents of Kirov. Just in the last week, the amount of damage has increased by another 7.8 million rubles.

      To deceive their victims, the criminals use a variety of stories. They pose as employees of the prosecutor's office, the FSB, the tax service, the Bank of Russia, the "Gosuslugi" portal, the post office, "Energosbyt," and even workers from children's health camps.

      More and more often, scammers contact their victims not only by phone but also through messengers. To build trust, they send photographs of fake IDs, certificates, and other documents. Additionally, the criminals often involve couriers and use artificial intelligence technologies to forge the voice or image of the interlocutor. In some cases, victims hear a voice resembling that of a relative.

      The prosecutor's office also reported that they continue to protect the interests of the victims in court. Since the beginning of the year, 693 lawsuits have been filed to recover money from the account holders through which the stolen funds passed. In the last week, the number of such lawsuits has increased by another 19. Additionally, 49 lawsuits have been filed to declare invalid the loan agreements that the victims entered into under the influence of the scammers. Over the week, three more applications have been added to them.
