A passenger with 1.4 kg of gunpowder and a firing mechanism was found on the train "Kirov - Luza."
The investigative department of the Kirov Transport Police of Russia has sent to court a criminal case initiated under Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal storage of explosives). The subject of the case is a 54-year-old resident of the Kirov region.
The incident occurred in March of this year. Officers of the transport police in Kirov were working on received information and noticed a passenger in one of the carriages of the train "Kirov – Luza." During the search of his travel bag, the officers seized three cardboard boxes containing a substance resembling gunpowder, as well as a trigger mechanism from a hunting rifle.
A physical and chemical examination established that the seized substance is smokeless powder of industrial manufacture. Its total weight amounted to 1449.3 grams.
The operational activities did not end there. The police went to the suspect's residence in the Oparinsky district. In the man's house, seven cartridges, more than 600 detonators, and one smoothbore hunting rifle were discovered and seized.
Currently, the materials of the criminal case have been submitted to the court for substantive consideration.
In addition, by the decision of the magistrate's court, the subject has already been imposed an administrative penalty in the form of a fine of 5000 rubles under Article 20.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (illegal actions with weapons and ammunition).
