The amount of milk in the Kirov region has decreased, while the amount of eggs and meat has increased.
According to the report, agricultural organizations in the region produced 54.6 thousand tons of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) during this period — 9.6% more than in January - May 2025. The gross milk yield (including milk from other types of animals) amounted to 359.4 thousand tons, which is 0.2% less than in the same period last year. At the same time, milk yield per cow increased by 0.4% and reached 3,890 kilograms. Egg production (including eggs from young hens) increased by 7.5% — to 284.4 million pieces. On average, 138 eggs were obtained from one laying hen. In the structure of meat production, poultry showed the highest growth — its production increased by 18% to 16.9 thousand tons. Pork production increased by 5.9% (25.5 thousand tons), and beef production increased by 6.7% (12.2 thousand tons). The sales of products also showed mixed dynamics. The volume of potato sales increased 2.6 times, and vegetable sales doubled. At the same time, the sales of grain and leguminous crops decreased by 10.9% and oilseeds by 5.6%. Among livestock products, egg sales increased by 6.7% and livestock and poultry by 4.9%, while the volume of milk sales remained virtually at last year's level. The livestock population in agricultural organizations at the end of May 2026 was: cattle — 222.4 thousand heads (+1.5% compared to May 2025), pigs — 255.3 thousand heads (+0.6%), poultry of all types — 4.3 million heads (+8.1%).
