The "Central Market" has been suggested to change its orientation.

      At the meeting of the Duma commission, the general director of the Kirov "Central Market," Vladimir Suvorov, spoke. He reported on the results of the organization’s work. According to the speaker, the occupancy of trading places in the market is 73%, while street trading is steadily declining (43-45%). Only eight trading pavilions in Theater Square are fully occupied. In addition, the "Central Market" rents out commercial real estate, and to date, eight out of nine premises are occupied, with one being put up for sale due to lack of demand. Three premises have been given for free use: at Sormovskaya, 40 — under the Ministry of Sports and the Ministry of Social Development (this includes "Vyatka-start" and a family center), at Lenin, 140 — for the police, and at Vladimirskaya, 165 — for the volunteer organization "Golden Hands of the Angel." According to Suvorov, in the first two premises, the utility costs are fully reimbursed to the "Market," while for the third one, he has to assist with utility payments. Additionally, it is necessary to pay for the depreciation of all these premises and property tax. In 2025 alone, the "Market" lost 990,000 rubles on all of this. The speaker also reported that revenue in 2025 amounted to 134 million rubles, while net profit was 17.7 million rubles. This was affected, in addition to the aforementioned expenses, by an increase in the profit tax rate from 20% to 25% — here the "Market" spent an additional approximately 1.19 million rubles. Furthermore, there were expenses for complying with a "fire safety" order amounting to about 2 million rubles. The "Market" also spent last year on salaries for 38 employees and property repairs. In particular, the facade of the former atelier at Proletarskaya, 24, which is now on the "Market's" balance sheet, was repaired, as well as the roof of the extension to the pavilion at Proletarskaya, 22B. The organization is also trying to save money, including through staff reductions. Last year, two positions were cut, and some people will lose their jobs this year as well. If we consider dividends, for 2025, the "Market" transferred 10.8 million rubles to the administration. It will also spend another 4.5 million rubles as part of its social responsibility for the demolition of emergency houses. One of the deputies, upon learning from the speaker that a net profit of 9-9.5 million rubles is planned for 2026, called it a "negative scenario." In his opinion, a twofold decrease in the indicator does not indicate rosy prospects. Another elected representative expressed the opinion that "the market is dying." He suggested reorienting it for other purposes, as even large shopping centers are not expecting anything good due to the development of online stores, let alone street trading. Suvorov did not say anything specific about changing the enterprise's orientation, but from his words, it became clear that he plans to keep the "Market" going. At least, for as long as possible.
