In a week, scammers stole almost 24 million rubles from residents of Kirov.
Since January 2026, 1,772 residents of the Kirov region have fallen victim to remote scammers. Just in the last week, 38 more people have been added to this number, and the amount stolen has increased by 23.9 million rubles. The total damage has exceeded 624 million rubles.
The criminals pose as employees of the prosecutor's office, the FSB, the tax service, the Central Bank, the "Gosuslugi" portal, the post office, and Energy Sales. To convince their victims, they send photographs of fake IDs and certificates.
In addition to mobile communication, scammers actively use messengers. During their crimes, they employ artificial intelligence technologies — altering their image or voice, and they can also use the voice of a close relative of the victim. For greater credibility, the criminals involve third parties who act as couriers.
The Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov region has filed 624 lawsuits for the recovery of funds from account holders (so-called droppers) and 32 lawsuits to declare invalid the loan agreements signed by victims under the influence of deception.
The agency urges citizens to be vigilant: with each passing time, scammers resort to new tricks to swindle savings.
