In Kirov, a prayer service was held at the Nevsky monument, asking for a "Year of Victory."
On June 12, a prayer service was held at the monument to Alexander Nevsky in Kirov. The event was timed to coincide with two dates — Russia Day and the birthday of the prince, who was referred to at the event as the "creator of Russian statehood."
Representatives of the clergy, patriotic organizations, parishioners, as well as officials and deputies gathered at the monument. Among those present were Boris Vesnin, a deputy of the Legislative Assembly from "United Russia," Andrey Berezin, a deputy of the city council, Anastasia Bortsova, head of the regional Committee of Families of Warriors of the Fatherland, veteran of the Special Military Operation Danil Zонов, and head of the regional education trade union Georgy Barminov.
Governor Alexander Sokolov addressed those gathered. He stated that the coincidence of Russia Day and Alexander Nevsky's birthday was "not accidental."
"Alexander Nevsky, by the choice of the Russians, became the name of Russia, the main historical figure of all eras of our state," said the regional head. "The great prince defended our land, protected our people, and allowed our country to survive, strengthen, and become a great state. And even after dying while defending his land and his people, Alexander Nevsky still prays for us and protects the Russian land from all troubles."
He concluded his speech with the words: "Happy holiday to everyone! And God willing, may this year be the year of Victory!"
After the official part, participants laid flowers at the monument.
Earlier, we reported that a spelling mistake was found on the monument to Alexander Nevsky in Kirov in the word "blagovernny" (it was written as "blagovernnyi"), later the "kратка" sign was restored, and six months after the opening, cracks and signs of corrosion on the bronze were noticed on the pedestal.
