The State Duma approved an increase in fees for migrants by 5 to 12 times.
According to the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the fee for obtaining Russian citizenship will increase from 4,200 to 50,000 rubles (12 times), for a temporary residence permit — from 1,920 to 15,000 rubles (8 times), and for a residence permit — from 6,000 to 30,000 rubles (5 times). The fee for issuing permits for attracting migrants to work will also increase — to 15,000 rubles for each foreign specialist.
The day before, a bill was adopted in the first reading regarding the transfer of some powers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs to the Ministry of Labor in matters of labor migration regulation. This concerns the approval of lists of professions for qualified foreign specialists who have the right to obtain a residence permit in a simplified manner or employment outside of quotas.
Volodin noted that since 2024, the State Duma has adopted 27 federal laws in the field of migration policy, 21 of which were initiated by deputies. According to him, the increase in fees is aimed at ensuring that "the most talented, the most effective" come to the country. At the same time, he did not rule out further increases in fees.
