The sun is storming: a G2 level magnetic storm has hit Earth.
A G2 level storm will last from early morning until midday. Doctors remind that during this period, there may be an increase in cardiovascular complaints. Energy bursts are occurring on the surface of the Sun, which, upon reaching Earth, cause fluctuations in its magnetic field. Technologies are the first to feel the effects — navigation and satellite communication may fail.
As for people's well-being, medical statistics indeed record an increase in complaints on days of geomagnetic activity. However, as noted by Marina Konstantinova, a therapist at INVITRO, the evidence base for the influence of magnetic storms on the body remains weak. The topic requires serious scientific research.
The specialist points out that if a person feels unwell precisely at the moment when the news mentions "magnetic storm," it is likely a psychological mechanism — the nocebo effect, where the body reproduces the expected reaction.
Nevertheless, people from high-risk groups — the elderly, pregnant women, and those living with chronic diseases — are advised to act more cautiously on storm days. Intense physical activities should be postponed, fatty, spicy, salty foods, and alcohol should be removed from the diet, while vegetables and fruits should be added, and attention should be paid to hydration.
The emotional background also matters: stress, overwork, and lack of sleep are particularly undesirable on such days. A full night's sleep remains one of the most reliable ways to help the body cope with any external influences.
