The insurer named the most "stolen" age of cars in Russia.

      According to the expert, cars younger than one year account for only 3.3% of theft insurance cases, reports RIA Novosti. Another 17% are for cars one year old, 13% for two-year-olds, and 10% for three-year-olds. The remaining 57% of stolen cars are vehicles older than four years.

      In the first four months of 2026, the number of insurance cases for the "theft" risk has decreased by more than half compared to the same period in 2025. Compared to January-April 2024, it has decreased by more than three times.

      Among insured cars, mass-market Kia and premium Lexus are the most frequently stolen. Lexus also leads in terms of insurance payouts due to its higher average value.

      The specialist noted that the best way to protect a vehicle is a modern anti-theft system. For owners of executive-class cars, he recommends satellite systems: they allow for quick tracking of the vehicle's movement. For mid-range models, a combined system is suitable: for example, an immobilizer with an engine start lock and mechanical devices, including an electromechanical hood lock.
