Residents of the Kirov region can see the Northern Lights.
The cause was three powerful solar flares that occurred during the day on June 3. They triggered the release of plasma clouds towards Earth. Specialists from the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI RAS assess the likelihood of magnetic storms at levels G3–G4. In the Kirov region, due to the period of white nights, residents of the southern half of the region, especially the extreme south, have a better chance of seeing the phenomenon. Let us remind you that we previously reported that a "double hit" of geomagnetic disturbance is expected on the night from Thursday to Friday — the first dense core is expected to approach Earth around 10:00 PM on June 4, and the second around 2:00 AM on June 5. Scientists did not rule out the appearance of auroras at that time, but pointed out that due to the short nights and bright sky, the chances of observation are low.
