Rosselkhoznadzor will restrict the import of vegetables, greens, and strawberries from Armenia.
The ban will remain in effect until the Armenian side begins to guarantee the safety of its products. In the first four and a half months of 2026, quarantine objects—dangerous for the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union—were found 181 times in Armenian vegetables and berries. From May 21 to 27, Russian inspectors checked Armenian greenhouses and again discovered quarantine organisms there. At the same time, the Armenian agency, according to Rosselkhoznadzor, has not taken any measures after previous violations. Furthermore, many Armenian suppliers are companies with unclear ownership structures. They evade phytosanitary control, and it is impossible to trace their products. The agency states that the Armenian side simply lacks a control system for what and how is exported to Russia. Restrictions are imposed to prevent threats to the country's territories. The situation is described as dangerous by Rosselkhoznadzor.
