The authors of the Telegram channel "Amateur Meteorology in Kirov" reported on the development of dangerous thunderstorm storms to the north of Kirov. According to satellite data, the temperature of the upper boundary of the clouds reached −63°C, indicating powerful convection capable of causing squalls, hail, and even tornadoes.
The main areas of thunderstorm activity have been recorded to the west and northwest of Kirov, as well as between the Kirov region and the Republic of Komi. Kirov itself was located between two active zones at the time of observation. Lightning activity is particularly high in the area of Syktyvkar.
According to amateur meteorologists, a small hail has already fallen in the village of Oparino. As the thunderstorm centers shift towards the Kirov region, short-term downpours, increased winds, and localized hail are possible.
