Pobedilovo will not open on June 21.

      The official opening date of the Pobedyilovo airport has been postponed again. Today, May 22, the airline "Pobeda" issued an urgent message for passengers, stating that the repair of the runway (RP) has been extended at least until June 30, 2026.

      This information radically contradicts the data published earlier. Recall that on May 20, the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kirov Region, Alexey Petryakov, reported on his Telegram channel that due to a discovered defect in the runway's foundation, the repair was extended until June 20, and flights were supposed to resume on June 21. The official also promised that passengers of canceled flights from June 8 to June 20 would be refunded. No new messages about another extension have been received from him, nor from the Ministry of Transport of the Kirov Region.

      However, the new notification from the carrier calls these plans into question. In the official Telegram channel of the airline "Pobeda" on May 22, it was stated that the completion of the repair work is scheduled only for June 30. This means that Pobedyilovo airport will not accept flights at least until the end of June.

      The consequences of the new postponement have already begun to affect passengers. A girl contacted the editorial office of Newsler.ru, whose return flight from Sochi to Kirov, scheduled for June 26, was canceled by the airline "Pobeda." She confirmed that she received an official cancellation notice. Now the passenger, like many others, will have to either process a forced refund or look for alternative flight options through Cheboksary or Kazan, which the airline offers.

      The editorial office continues to monitor the situation and awaits official comments from the administration of Pobedyilovo airport and the regional government regarding new, later opening dates.

      On May 20, Newsler.ru already reported on the problems with the runway repair at Pobedyilovo airport. Initially, there was information about the cancellation of the "Pobeda" flight Kirov - Sochi on June 12, even though the airport was officially supposed to close only until June 7. At that time, the airport stated that they were "not involved" and advised to deal with the carrier. However, later that same day, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Kirov Region Alexey Petryakov reported that a dangerous defect was found in the runway's foundation, so the repair was extended until June 20, and flights would resume on June 21.

      Now, after the new announcement from the airline "Pobeda," it turns out that the deadlines have been shifted again - now until June 30.
