The Prosecutor's Office of the Kirov Region continues oversight activities related to preparations for the fire hazard period. The focus is on protecting populated areas, households, and facilities with round-the-clock care for the elderly, disabled, and children from forest and landscape fires.
A special fire safety regime in the Kirov Region has been established since the first days of May 2026.
Today, May 15, 2026, the Prosecutor of the Kirov Region, Yuri Ryvaev, held an interdepartmental operational meeting with a visit to the Slobodskoy District. The event was attended by heads of regional departments of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Bailiff Service, the Federal Penitentiary Service, representatives of the governor's administration and the government of the Kirov Region, relevant ministries and agencies, supervisory authorities, and local self-government bodies, resource supply and transport organizations, the acting Kirov transport prosecutor, regional prosecutors, and territorial prosecutors.
The regional prosecutor noted that the fire situation developing this year requires increased attention. Any delay in the conditions of fire spread can lead to casualties, destruction, or damage to citizens' property.
As part of the inspections, prosecutors pay attention to:
the readiness of forest users, tenants, and authorized bodies for possible fires;
the formation of specialized units and fire brigades, their equipment with technology, equipment, and gear;
the condition of backup water supply sources and access roads to them;
the elimination of unauthorized dumps of household waste, logging waste, and logging residues, especially near power lines and railway tracks;
the timely organization of clearing land plots at the borders of populated areas, the creation of mineralized strips and fire barriers.
At the meeting, reports from local government leaders and representatives of operational services were heard. Employees of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Kirov Region reported on the forecast for the development of the situation in the region.
As a result of the discussion, the work of the interested departments and organizations was coordinated to ensure the safety of residents of the Kirov Region. The results of the visit will be used in the oversight and human rights activities of the prosecutor's office.
The regional prosecutor emphasized: the promptness of response and the effectiveness of countering forest fires are primarily ensured by interdepartmental cooperation, preventive measures, and thorough preparatory work.
