Victory Day was celebrated in Kirov.
On May 9, Victory Day, the residents of Kirov gathered at the theater square to celebrate the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, to remember those who defended our Motherland, those who gave us a peaceful sky above our heads.
The Victory Parade began at 10:00 AM. As in the previous year, entry was by invitation tickets, which were distributed through enterprises, public organizations, political parties, and labor collectives. Among the guests were veterans of the Great Patriotic War, participants of the special military operation, and their families. The governor of the Kirov region, Alexander Sokolov, delivered a congratulatory speech.
After that, a procession began, which included military personnel, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, representatives of the bailiff service, cadets, members of the Russian Military Historical Society, veterans of the special military operation, school cadets, trainees, activists of military-patriotic clubs, and young army members.
After the parade, the city's leaders, veterans, families of participants in the special military operation, and other residents of Kirov lined up to walk to the Eternal Flame. There, a ceremony was held to lay flowers in memory of those who did not return from the fronts of the Great Patriotic War and those who are fighting for the Motherland today.
After the official part of the celebration of the 81st anniversary of the great Victory, the "Immortal Regiment" procession took place. According to the Kirov region government, 12,000 residents of Kirov participated in the procession. They walked from the Theater Square to the Eternal Flame, carrying banners with photographs of their heroes: fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, those who perished on the battlefields, and those who were fortunate enough to return from that terrible war.
