Construction in the Kirov region has collapsed by almost half.

      According to the report, the volume of work in the "Construction" sector from January to March 2026 amounted to 8,011.1 million rubles. In comparable prices, this is only 55% of the level of the same period last year — a decline of 45%.

      69.7 thousand square meters of housing were put into operation, which is 49.3% less than a year ago. Of these, the population built 66.2 thousand "squares". The number of apartments commissioned was 652.

      At the same time, from January to March, a number of facilities were commissioned: 40 hotel rooms, an ice arena (343 sq. m), educational and laboratory buildings (7.8 thousand sq. m), 139.9 km of gas distribution networks, 3 thousand tons of confectionery products, 5 thousand sq. m of light metal structures, and other capacities.

      A survey of construction organization leaders showed that 89% rated the economic situation as "satisfactory," 7% as "favorable," and 4% as "unsatisfactory."

      The business confidence index was minus 5% (compared to minus 9% in the previous quarter). The main problems are high taxes (63%), expensive materials (42%), and a shortage of skilled workers (29%).

      In the second quarter, 14% of leaders expect an improvement in the situation, 5% expect a deterioration, while the majority (81%) do not anticipate any changes.
