The FAS urged experts not to scare Russians with rising prices.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia issued warnings to several experts who publicly spoke about the possible rise in prices for food and fuel, reports "Lenta.ru."
According to the FAS, such statements can affect the market. The agency believes that forecasts about price increases can provoke a surge in demand among consumers and prompt market participants to change prices.
Concerns, in particular, arose regarding the statements of the head of the analytical department of "Rikom-Trast," Oleg Abelyev, who spoke about the likely rise in food prices. The FAS also took note of the forecasts from representatives of companies commenting on the potential increase in fuel prices in 2026.
The antimonopoly service reminded that coordinated actions by market participants affecting pricing may be considered a violation of the competition protection law.
It was previously reported that against the backdrop of rising prices, Russians have been buying chocolate less frequently. According to analysts, in 2025, sales of chocolate bars decreased in physical terms, despite an increase in the revenue of retail chains.
