Oleg Valenchuk: The Gardens of Memory are a living connection between generations

Schoolchildren from the Kirov region became pioneers of this unique project 11 years ago, which received nationwide recognition. The initiative of the "Gardens of Memory" movement originated in 2015 in a small village called Selezhenikha in the Kirovo-Chepetsk district. The schoolchildren proposed to make young apple trees a symbol of respect and memory for the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of our country.

Support from State Duma deputy and chairman of the Russian Gardeners' Union Oleg Valenchuk played a key role in implementing this idea. Thanks to his efforts, the campaign quickly gained popularity and soon spread beyond the region, becoming a nationwide movement.

This year, residents of apartment buildings in the city of Kirov once again joined the movement. During the May holidays, they went out to plant apple trees and lilacs in their yards, uniting with neighbors and creating an atmosphere of unity and mutual assistance. On April 30, residents of house 50/3 on Builders Avenue gathered with their families to plant trees and tell children about the heroism of our people during the war. On May 3, residents of the Solnechny Bereg microdistrict joined the movement, establishing their "Garden of Memory" in the yard of house 191/1 on Lenin Street.

      - The apple trees will grow, bear fruit, and delight everyone with their beauty, and most importantly, remind us of the great feat of our people, our fellow countrymen, - said Svetlana Belorybkina, head of the CMA.

To date, within the framework of the "Gardens of Memory" movement, more than 25,000 trees have been planted in the Kirov region alone. Each of them is a living symbol of the feat and memory of the heroes whose names will forever remain in the history of our country. The project brings together people of different ages: schoolchildren, adults, and veterans, creating a strong connection between the past and the present.

      - "Gardens of Memory" is a movement that has no temporal boundaries, - noted Oleg Valenchuk. - The memory of the ancestors' feat will live on forever, passed down from generation to generation. Each planted tree is a symbol of revival, a vivid reminder of the price of freedom and independence, of the courage, resilience, and self-sacrifice of our people. In the face of modern challenges, when it is important to remember our history and values, "Gardens of Memory" become a symbol of the unity of our multinational people.
