May 9th is the main holiday: this is what 75% of Kirov residents believe.
According to a survey by the "SuperJob" service, 75% of city residents perceive May 9 as a personal holiday. This was most often mentioned by respondents over 45 years old — among them, the share reaches 85%. In second place was New Year (69%), which is noticeably celebrated more often by women. Following are International Women's Day (44%), Christmas (43%), and Defender of the Fatherland Day (33%).
Next in importance for Kirov residents were Spring and Labor Day (26%), Russia Day (25%), and National Unity Day (11%). At the same time, one in ten respondents admitted that none of the official holidays holds personal significance for them.
Memorial events also receive high support. The "Georgian ribbon" is approved by 90% of survey participants, while the "Immortal Regiment" is supported by 92%. Respondents note that such initiatives help preserve the memory of those who died during the Great Patriotic War, although some respondents express critical remarks, calling participation in the events formal.
