Death with a five-year installment plan

      On the morning of February 17, 49-year-old Kochkin went to the Shabalinsk Central District Hospital with complaints of chest burning, and after three hours of waiting, he was examined by therapist Nina Klepcha, who immediately diagnosed him with "gastritis." According to Nina Ivanovna, this was provoked by chips eaten the day before. However, the "fresh cardiogram" literally screamed, in the opinion of the paramedics who arrived "on the corpse," about an actively developing heart attack.

      After purchasing the Almagel and stomach tablets prescribed by Klepcha at the pharmacy, Vyacheslav collapsed and died from a massive heart attack, clutching a referral for a "stool test" in his hand. According to the chief physician of the hospital, stated during the court session, the medical institution is not to blame for the patient's death, as "Kochkin would have died anyway, as his heart began to decompose."

      It is likely that Alexey Bastrakov hopes that the Samara court will not notice the obvious "discrepancy in diagnoses" made by the chief physician and "very good doctor Nina Klepcha," and will attribute the patient's death to the fatal fault of thin slices of fried potatoes.

      It is also possible that the second argument used by Bastrakov to potentially reduce the degree of responsibility for the patient's death, namely, the healthcare institution's creditor debt exceeding 15 million rubles, triggered the appeal to the Oktyabrsky District Court with a request for "installment payments of the court decision." More precisely, the Central District Hospital intends to achieve "judicial understanding" in the case of repaying a 600,000 ruble debt to Olga Vorsina at the rate of... 20,000 rubles per month. Otherwise, by May 20, the Ministry of Finance, to which the enforcement order has been sent, will transfer the entire amount to the deceased's sister. This, in the opinion of the chief physician, will increase the hospital's debt and... "will negatively affect the treatment of other patients."

      By the way, it is worth noting that on April 13, the Oktyabrsky District Court granted claims against the Shabalinsk Central District Hospital and the Ministry of Health from two other sisters of Vyacheslav Kochkin — Ekaterina and Yulia, awarding each "compensation for moral harm" in the amount of 600,000 rubles. Thus, the total debt of the hospital to the deceased Vyacheslav's relatives amounted to 1.8 million. Which, in fact, is not that much when compared to the debt of the Verkhoshizhemsk Central District Hospital, which has to pay the family — the widow, daughter, and mother of 36-year-old Sergey Plastinin, who died of a stroke, not food poisoning, five million rubles.
