"Graves are sinking, canals are blocked": residents of Kirov are once again complaining about flooding at the Novomakaryevsky cemetery
Let us remind you that earlier the townspeople complained about flooded graves, the lack of roads, and conducting funerals practically "in water." Now new information has emerged: according to Kirov residents, the problem lies not only in the flood but also in the condition of the drainage channels.
As a resident of Kirov, who contacted Newsler.ru, claims, massive concrete graves—so-called "bridges" to the graves—are installed along the canal at section 4/1 of the cemetery. Essentially, they function like dams and block the natural drainage of water.
Moreover, the ditches themselves, according to the Kirov woman, have not been cleaned for years: they are overgrown with trees and filled with garbage. As a result, water does not drain away and begins to flood the burial sites.
The concerned woman justifiably raises the following questions:
on what grounds and according to what regulations are such structures allowed to be built, which alter the landscape and natural drainage of water?
are sanitary norms observed when burying near drainage channels?
why does the cemetery administration allow changes to the landscape that lead to flooding?
According to her, contacting the Municipal Institution "Funeral Service" yielded no results.
"It is easier for the city administration and the Municipal Institution 'Funeral Service' to refer to the snowy winter to justify their inaction than to solve the problem," notes the complaint author. She also adds that, in her opinion, if the situation affected the relatives of officials, the issue would likely be resolved much faster.
Earlier, Kirov residents had already reported that due to the high groundwater level, graves are dug shallowly, and the crosses in the cemetery are leaning. At that time, demands were made to restore order and check the legality of burials in the problematic area. Read more about this here.
