Winter is returning to the Kirov region.
Although the calendar spring is nearing its end, the weather decided to remind the residents of the Vyatka region of its surprises. According to duty meteorologist L.E. Palapina, the upcoming weekend will be unstable: several seasonal phenomena are expected — from rain to wet snow and icy conditions on the roads.
On Saturday, April 25, the day will start with light rain, which will intensify by midday. The most noticeable change will be the wind: in the morning it will blow from the south, and after lunch it will sharply change direction to the northwest, picking up speed to 7–12 m/s. The temperature during the day will be +5…+7°C in the city. In the region, at night, it may not just be rain, but a transition to snow and wet snow, with icy conditions expected in some areas.
On Sunday, April 26, Kirov residents will face a contrasting scenario. The night will feel wintery: thermometer readings will drop to –2°C in the city and to –5°C in the region, with light wet snow and icy conditions expected. However, during the day, the air will warm up to +8…+10°C in Kirov and up to +12°C in some areas of the region. Precipitation will cease, and the clouds will begin to disperse.
The windiest and warmest day will be Monday, April 27. During the day, the air will warm up to +12…+14°C in the city and up to +15°C in the region. However, the comfortable temperature will be spoiled by a strong southeast wind: during the day, its speed will reach 7–12 m/s, with gusts up to 17 m/s (in some areas of the region up to 19 m/s). Icy conditions may again occur on the night of Monday and in the morning.
Drivers are advised to be cautious on the region's highways during the night and morning hours, while pedestrians should remember to change their footwear due to slippery road sections.
