Minor fine: how the story of the forest clearing in Luza ended
Several months ago, complaints from residents of Luza appeared on social media. They reported that workers were cutting down the pine forest located near residential buildings. According to the People's Front, during this time, the forest, where 30-meter pines grew, has turned into a huge pit. Additionally, the workers left behind garbage — bottles of alcohol, napkins, food packaging, and so on. Branches, logs, and uprooted stumps are scattered everywhere. There are fallen trees. The contractor promised to clean all this up after the snow melts, but the beloved forest of the city's residents can no longer be restored. Activists from the People's Front found that the sand extraction in this area for the repair of the Kirov — Kotlas — Arkhangelsk road was conducted legally. A number of other actions were also legal. However, the environmental prosecutor's office found violations of the conditions for granting a license for subsoil use. As a result, two officials were held accountable. One will receive a minor fine.
