The cash turnover in Russia decreased by 3.4%.
In 2025, the cash turnover in Russia amounted to 125.7 trillion rubles. It decreased by 3.4%, reported the Bank of Russia. The reason was the growing popularity of cashless payments. A total of 61.2 trillion rubles was deposited into bank tellers and ATMs, while clients withdrew 64.5 trillion rubles.
Cash transactions were mainly conducted by citizens. At the same time, they became less frequent in paying cash for goods and services. In 2025, such transactions amounted to 6.7 trillion rubles, which is 16% lower than the previous year. The influx of cash into individual accounts decreased by almost 21% — to 11.7 trillion rubles.
As for the volume of transactions for withdrawing and depositing money through ATMs, it remained virtually at the level of 2024 (76.2 trillion rubles). This accounts for more than 60% of the total cash turnover.
