In the south of the Kirov region, sewage is flowing.
The problem that local residents have been signaling to the administration for years has reached a critical point. In the village of Podosinovets, wastewater from a cesspool located in a brick building 30 meters from the Yuga River regularly floods the surrounding area and flows towards the water body. The source of pollution serves two facilities — apartment building No. 12 and a local nursing home. The cesspool cannot handle the volume of waste. It is pumped out almost daily, but due to the untimely schedule for waste removal, the tank overflows, spills out, and flows naturally towards the coastal protective strip. Local residents note that in the Yuga River during the summer, children and adults traditionally swim, and fishing is also conducted. However, regular discharges of sewage threaten both public health and the ecosystem of the water body. The absurdity of the situation is compounded by monthly payments. Each resident connected to this system pays from 800 rubles for sewage services. However, the quality of the service raises complaints. Only after contacting the village administration do trucks arrive on site. The leaks stop, but after a while, everything starts anew. Residents note that once, after complaints, the vacuum trucks made more than 10 trips. Additionally, the dirty wheels of the special equipment, driving over the spilled sewage, spread the stench and waste throughout the surrounding area and roads. As soon as the People's Front got involved in the inspection, unknown individuals attempted to cover up the traces — the area of the sewage spill was covered with soil. However, according to public activists, this does not solve the systemic problem. "The operating organization is obliged to organize the removal of wastewater in such a way as to prevent it from entering the soil and the river. Residents pay money but receive pollution of the water body. We have contacted the prosecutor's office regarding the poor quality of sewage services and possible environmental harm," commented Valeria Cheremisina, head of the regional branch of the People's Front.
