Russia accounted for 90% of temperature records.
According to the public group "Amateur Meteorology in Kirov," March 2026 will go down in the history of meteorological observations: a total of 108 weather stations, located from the Arctic to Central Asia, recorded temperature records.
At 59 weather stations, March became the warmest in the entire history of observations. Moreover, Russia accounted for almost 90% of these records: from Karelia and St. Petersburg to the Yakutian Oymyakon, where temperatures rose by 4.8 degrees compared to the previous temperature record.
At 49 weather stations, the absolute maximum temperature for March was exceeded. The epicenter was the Volga region, the Urals, and Kazakhstan, where in Turkestan the thermometer rose to an incredible +31.5 degrees, setting a new absolute record for March, surpassing the temperature record set in 1974.
In March, in the Arkhangelsk region — in Kargopol — an almost summer-like temperature for the north was recorded in the midst of the winter season: +15.9 degrees.
"March 2026 has rewritten climate history in four countries — this is no longer an anomaly, this is a new reality," noted amateur meteorologists.
