More than 30 thousand residents of Kirov received an increase in their pension: how payments changed from April 1.

      Starting April 1, social pensions in the Kirov region have been indexed by 6.8%. As reported by the press service of the regional branch of the Social Fund of Russia, 30,077 residents of the region became recipients of the increase. In absolute figures, the average amount of state pensions now stands at 17,387 rubles, while the average increase in payments has reached 1,050 rubles.

      The main feature of the recent recalculation is its automatic nature. Residents of the region entitled to such support did not need to visit client services or submit applications. As noted by the head of the SFR branch, Nikolai Pasynkov, the indexing was carried out automatically.

      Who is on the list for the increase

      The increase in payments affected several categories of citizens. Among them are recipients of social pensions (due to old age, disability, and loss of breadwinner). In addition, payments have been recalculated for conscripted servicemen and their families, participants of the Great Patriotic War, as well as for individuals with the status of residents of besieged Leningrad, besieged Stalingrad, and Sevastopol. The indexing program also includes citizens affected by radiation disasters and representatives of flight test personnel.

      Supplement for non-working pensioners

      The regional branch of the SFR draws attention to an important provision of the legislation: the income of a non-working pensioner cannot be lower than the established regional minimum living wage. In the Kirov region, this threshold in 2026 is set at 14,496 rubles. If, after the April indexing, the total amount of payments for a specific individual is below this threshold, a federal social supplement will be automatically assigned to them.

      Proactive and application-based procedures

      Different types of pensions have different mechanisms for assignment. For example, disability payments and payments in case of loss of breadwinner for children under 18 are processed proactively — from the moment the corresponding status is assigned, without unnecessary visits to agencies.

      However, for the assignment of old-age social pensions, initiative is required from the citizen themselves. Applications can be submitted remotely through the "Gosuslugi" portal, by contacting the MFC, or in person at the client service. At the same time, the SFR reminds about the age limit: the right to this type of pension arises five years later than the established retirement age. This year, this threshold is 64 years for women and 69 years for men.
