In 2025, suspicious money transactions decreased by 19 percent.
According to the regulator, cash withdrawals in the banking sector decreased by 28%. Transfers to citizens' accounts from companies that were not engaged in real economic activity decreased by 24%. The number of suspicious transactions showing signs of money laundering abroad in 2025 decreased by 5% compared to the previous year, amounting to 24.3 billion rubles. The regulator's website notes that the trend of reducing suspicious operations was supported by the interaction between the regulator and banks, as well as the operation of the "Know Your Customer" platform. Efforts to combat suspicious operations involving fictitious individuals—"drops," through which illegal businesses conduct transactions with citizens—have also been strengthened. Banks have learned to identify such operations in real time. In 2025, the lifespan of a drop card significantly decreased: whereas payments with such a card could previously be conducted for over a month, they are now typically stopped within a day. The average transaction amount for a single drop has decreased from 1-3 million rubles to 100-150 thousand rubles. The volume of suspicious operations involving drop accounts in the banking sector as a whole has decreased several times.
