The Bank of Russia has issued commemorative coins for the 250th anniversary of the Bolshoi Theatre.
According to the press service of the Bank of Russia, two coins made of precious metals have been issued as part of the "Historical Events" series: a silver coin with a denomination of 25 rubles (mintage — 1,500 pieces); a gold coin with a denomination of 100 rubles (mintage — 500 pieces). The silver coin weighs 155.5 grams (purity 925) and has a diameter of 60 mm, while the gold coin weighs 15.55 grams (purity 999) and has a diameter of 30 mm. Both coins are minted with "proof" quality and have a reeded edge. The reverse side of the silver coin features a dancing ballet couple against the backdrop of the Bolshoi Theatre and stage lights. The gold coin depicts a ballerina against the same background. The images are made using laser frosting technique. At the bottom around the edge, there is an inscription: "BOLSHOI THEATRE." The issued coins are legal tender in Russia and must be accepted at face value for all types of payments without restrictions.
