A rocket flew over Kirov against the backdrop of the northern lights.
In the public group "Amateur Astronomy in Kirov," they shared a happy incident: they managed to capture the flight of a rocket against the backdrop of the northern lights. "On the evening of March 23, 2026, the launch of the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Fregat upper stage and, presumably, the Dawn satellites on board took place. Unfortunately, there was no reliable information about it, so for me and other observers tracking space launches, it came as a complete surprise. Obtaining photographs of this launch was a great stroke of luck. It's akin to capturing a bright meteor — being in the right place, at the right time, and with the right photographic equipment," reported the authors of the public group "Amateur Astronomy in Kirov."
Amateur astronomers shared that while out on a photo hunt, they noticed a strange "cloud" in the sky over the northwestern part of the horizon. "There were thoughts that it could have been an ordinary cloud illuminated by the Moon, or smoke. However, upon examining its structure and dynamics, it became clear — this was a 'jellyfish' from the rocket launch, which occurs when the condensation trail is illuminated by the Sun, which is below the horizon," noted the amateur astronomers.
It is reported that the shooting took place in the area of the village of Bobino in the Slobodskoe district.
