Nearly 674,000 tonnes of grain were harvested in Kirov Oblast.
Preliminary results of the 2025 agricultural crop harvest in the Kirov Region have been reported. According to Kirovstat, the sown area of cereals and grain legumes totaled 301.4 thousand hectares, which is 1.1% more than a year earlier. Farms of all categories threshed 673.9 thousand tonnes of grain in weight after processing — 14.9% higher than the 2024 figure. Cereal yields rose to 23.9 centners per hectare, which is 4.2 centners more than in the previous season.
Barley and wheat traditionally account for the largest shares of the grain harvest. Barley made up 41.8% of the total harvested volume, and wheat 30.3%. Rye (11.7%), oats (10%), and grain legumes (5.1%) were also grown in the region. The share of corn for grain and other crops was less than 2%.
The area planted with potatoes in 2025 was virtually unchanged at 7.5 thousand hectares. At the same time, the gross harvest rose by 8.8% to 117.3 thousand tonnes. The harvest of open-field vegetables (including those grown under cover in household plots) was gathered from an area of 1.9 thousand hectares. The total volume amounted to 67.1 thousand tonnes, which is 6.9% more than last year.
Kirovstat noted that potato yields increased by more than 8%, and vegetable yields by about 3% compared with 2024. Agricultural organizations remain the main producers of grain in the region, while potatoes and vegetables are predominantly grown in household plots.
