A Belarusian dairy plant may open in Kirov Oblast.
A large dairy-production facility may be established in the Kirov Region. Belarusian companies are considering building a processing plant in the region.
According to the online publication Belnovosti, the agreement was reached at a meeting between Kirov Region Governor Alexander Sokolov and the chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Petr Parkhomchik. The talks took place on January 21 in Brest.
Kirov Region is among Russia’s largest milk producers — about 900,000 tonnes are produced in the region each year. However, there is a shortage of capacity for value-added processing, and the new plant could partially address this problem.
It is planned that Belarusian enterprises specializing in dairy production will take part in the project. A site with infrastructure for the future plant in Kirov Region is ready to be provided, and stable supplies of raw materials will also be ensured.
Kirov Region is prepared to provide the site with infrastructure, supply the plant with raw materials, and consider tax incentives. The products are planned to be supplied to the Volga region, the Urals and Siberia.
The project is being discussed as part of expanded cooperation between Belarus and Kirov Region. The parties also touched on joint projects in manufacturing, agriculture and delegation exchanges. At the end of the meeting an agreement on the development of cooperation between the regions was signed.
It should be recalled that recently the Kirov Region authorities considered the possibility of supplying pork to Belarusian enterprises.
