Freight traffic on the Gorky Railway decreased by 2.5%.

      In 2025, the volume of cargo loaded on the Gorky Railway amounted to 26.1 million tonnes. Compared with 2024, the figure fell by 2.5%. This was reported by the press service of the territorial administration of the Gorky Railway.

      The largest volume on the mainline was oil and petroleum products — 10 million tonnes. This type of cargo, conversely, showed growth of almost 20%. At the same time, loading decreased in a number of other areas: timber (to 2.33 million tonnes, down 10.9%), ferrous metals (1.66 million tonnes, down 30%), cement (1.6 million tonnes, down 20.1%) and other industrial materials.

      Freight turnover for 2025 amounted to 147 billion tariff tonne-kilometres, which is 8% less than the previous year’s figure. Including empty wagon runs, it reached 180.3 billion tonne-kilometres, down 9%.
