Russian Post branches will start selling medicines.
RIA Novosti reported this, citing a draft government decree prepared by the Ministry of Health.
According to the document, postal offices located in settlements where there are no pharmacies, licensed individual entrepreneurs or medical organizations authorized to sell medicines will be able to carry out pharmaceutical activities. For this, "Russian Post" would need to obtain the appropriate license and have staff with specialized additional training on its payroll.
The list of medicines planned to be sold through postal offices includes 132 items. These include drugs for the digestive and cardiovascular systems, preparations for the blood, respiratory tract, nervous and musculoskeletal systems, as well as antimicrobial and dermatological agents.
The initiative is aimed at increasing the availability of medicines for residents of rural areas where the pharmacy network is underdeveloped.
