In November, drivers in Kirov hit seven moose and a wild boar.
According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Kirov Region, eight road accidents involving wild animals were recorded on the region’s roads in November. In seven cases vehicles struck moose, and in one case a wild boar. The accidents occurred in Verkhoshizhemsky, Kiknursky, Kilmezsky, Omutninsky, Svechinsky, Sunsky and Yaransky districts. Two people were injured as a result of the incidents. The ministry reminded drivers of the need to obey speed limits, especially on rural roads, and to be attentive in places where the forest comes close to the roadway and signs reading “Wild animals” are posted. In addition, motorists are advised to use high beams when there is no oncoming traffic and not to sound their horns when they see animals on the roadside, but to slow down or stop. The ministry notes that following these recommendations reduces the risk of accidents and helps preserve the lives and health of both people and wild animals.
