'Islands of Adventure' are coming to kindergartens: Pyaterochka and Liza Alert will teach the youngest children about safety.
About 40,000 children go missing in Russia every year. Often the reason is a lack of knowledge of simple rules for behavior in the city. To address this situation, the "Adventure Islands" project was launched in 2022. At first the classes were run by volunteers, and later by trained teachers. Now the program has reached a new level.
Starting in November 2025, all educational institutions in the country that work with children aged 6 to 18 can join the project. To do this, teachers or caregivers only need to download ready-made methodological materials from the online platform школапитания.рф. All materials — presentations, scripts, games and videos — are free and comply with state standards.
In the classes, children learn to remain calm in stressful situations, to orient themselves in an unfamiliar place, to behave properly when interacting with strangers, and also learn what to do if they become lost or are left alone.
"We began by creating special zones in stores for lost people — 'Safety Islands' — and saw how relevant the problem is. Even teenagers do not always know the basic rules of safe behavior on the street. Our goal is for the program to reach every school and every kindergarten. We believe these lessons will help preserve children's health and lives," commented Ekaterina Demeshko, manager of sustainable development at Pyaterochka.
How to take part?
Teachers and caregivers wishing to participate in the project must register on the platform by June 30, 2026 to gain access to all methodological materials.
After the classes are held, all participants will receive certificates. Parents can help by informing the administration of their educational institution about the project.
