The Bank of Russia issues a "space" coin.

Fifty years ago, in 1975, the Soviet spacecraft Venera‑9 and Venera‑10 made the first soft landings on the second planet from the Sun and sent the first photographs of its surface back to Earth.

To commemorate this event, the Bank of Russia will issue on November 17, 2025 a commemorative 3‑ruble silver coin in the "Space" series. The coin is made of 925‑grade silver, weighs 31.1 grams, has a diameter of 39 mm and is produced with a proof finish, the Bank of Russia press service reported.

The obverse features the State Emblem of Russia and bears all the standard elements: the denomination, year of issue, metal fineness and the trademark of the Saint Petersburg Mint.

The reverse is adorned with a relief depiction of the Venera‑9 automatic station and its descent vehicle against a colored image of Venus. Around the circumference are the inscriptions "FIRST PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE SURFACE OF VENUS" and "VENERA‑9, ‑10", and in the center the date "1975". The coin’s edge is reeded.

The mintage of the commemorative coin is limited — only 3,000 pieces. It is legal tender in Russia and is accepted at face value for all types of transactions.
