School No. 73 in Kirov is being inspected.
In the autumn the exterior wall of the gym here was already repaired, the condition of which parents had earlier reported on social media. In addition, other defects on the façade were fixed, and the floor on the first floor was replaced.
Investigative authorities conducted their own inspection and recorded additional problems. After that the city administration appointed another technical inspection to prepare an estimate for repairing all the identified defects.
“The administration organized an additional inspection — with the aim of preparing an estimate for their repair. We made the decision to move the school’s students to distance learning until the inspection is completed and the defects are repaired. Moreover, one of the defects requires work that cannot be done without interrupting the educational process,” said Ivan Stroy, deputy head of the Kirov administration.
The education department is now considering options for returning the children to in-person schooling.
“We understand how important it is to resume lessons in the usual format. By November 19, parent meetings are planned to discuss options for redistributing students to other schools in the city so that this is as comfortable as possible for both children and parents,” said Arabella Sharygina, head of the education department.
The department emphasized that if necessary, students of School No. 73 will be provided with transportation to those educational institutions where they will continue their studies during the repair work.
