Kirov residents began receiving messages about internet restrictions after returning from abroad.
Residents of Kirov Oblast who are currently abroad have begun receiving messages from their operators about restrictions on mobile internet and/or SMS. We wrote about them in detail here. Thus, one operator sent a woman from Kirov the following message: "Hello. We inform you that after returning from abroad access to mobile internet will be restricted for 24 hours. To lift the restriction upon your return you will receive an SMS from the operator to complete authorization. At the same time, calls and a number of important services from the list will remain available to you (a link to the operator's website follows — ed.)."
Another person Newsler spoke to received the following message from a different operator: "In accordance with security requirements, after returning to Russia mobile internet and SMS on your number will be temporarily restricted. To restore access to services upon registering on the network you will need to undergo verification (a link to the operator's website follows — ed.). If verification is not completed, services will automatically resume after 24 hours."
Earlier we wrote that internet may be restricted not only when Russians return to Russia, but also if a person does not use their SIM card for three days. We contacted one of the operators to ask whether this is true and, if so, what it means by the term "use." However, the operator confirmed only restrictions for "returnees." It added that if a person does not want to lose their number, they should at least once every three months make a call from it, send an SMS, go online, or pay for any service/plan. If this is done, no problems will arise, the company representative noted.
