At Oleg Valenchuk's gardening school, the school year begins with discoveries.
With the move to an online format in 2021, the Gardeners' School has significantly expanded its audience, making education accessible even to residents of the most remote corners of the Vyatka region. Live-streamed lectures allow each participant not only to listen but also to ask questions.
The first lecture, delivered by plant-breeding company employee Nikolai Baryshev, was devoted to fertilizers and plant feedings. Many gardeners are afraid to use them, and entirely wrongly so. Plants, like people, critically need trace elements such as potassium, phosphorus and others. In addition, many organic remedies prove completely powerless against diseases and pests.
This academic year listeners can expect many interesting topics and formats for interacting with lecturers. Thus, on November 19 the School for SNT Chairpersons (18+) will begin, traditionally held in the assembly hall of the Pervomayskaya Administration.
And on November 15 the first lecture of the "Vyatskaya Loza" club (12+) will take place at the Albert Likhanov Library, where participants will be able to review the past season and discuss problems related to the ripening of the grapevine and grape diseases. Information on products for treating plants during the season will also be presented.
The Landscape Design Club will continue its work, where listeners can learn about combinations of plants, their preferences for growing conditions, and how to create harmonious compositions in their own gardens.
In December there will be a meeting with lecturers (12+) devoted to answering gardeners' questions. These can already be sent via private message to the "Union of Gardeners — Kirov" group on VKontakte. The authors of the most interesting and original questions will be recognized with certificates and valuable prizes.
And, of course, the lecturers of Oleg Valenchuk's Gardeners' School will remain in touch. In addition to gardening topics, short videos will be devoted to preparing dishes for the New Year's table from homegrown vegetables, as well as making original decorative elements for the holiday and gifts for family and friends.
"Our gardeners are tireless workers. They not only grow high-quality, environmentally clean products, but also raise children and grandchildren, and adorn their native land with flowers… And our task is to support them," emphasizes Oleg Valenchuk. "Planned for this academic year are an expansion of the project's geography and the inclusion of new topics reflecting current trends."
