On May 11 of this year, a 36-year-old resident of Nolinsky District, while drunk, got behind the wheel of a VAZ-2110 and drove through the streets of Nolinsk, but at some point he was stopped and removed from operating the vehicle by police officers. A check of his identity data revealed that the man had previously been held administratively liable for drunk driving.

As a result, a criminal case was opened against the driver. He was found guilty under part 1 of Article 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (operating a vehicle while intoxicated by a person previously subjected to administrative punishment or having a criminal record). The court agreed with the prosecutor’s position and sentenced the man to eight months of compulsory labor with deprivation of the right to engage in activities involving the operation of motor vehicles for two years.

In addition, the court applied the provisions of Article 104.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (confiscation of property), transferring the offender’s car into state ownership pursuant to the verdict.
