Most residents of Kirov believe that grandmothers should help raise their grandchildren.
In the run-up to Grandparents’ Day, SuperJob surveyed Kirov residents about the role of the older generation in modern families. The study involved representatives of the economically active population.
According to the results, 78% of respondents believe that grandmothers should be involved in raising grandchildren: 32% unequivocally support this idea, and 46% tend to agree. The opposite view is held by 22% of respondents: 19% think grandmothers “rather should not” be involved, and 3% are categorically against it.
The majority of city residents (58%) assess the role of grandmothers as “unobtrusive help,” while 40% call it essential support. Only 2% of respondents believe that grandmothers cannot be trusted with raising grandchildren.
Attitudes toward grandmothers’ participation in upbringing depend on respondents’ gender, age, education level and income. Men more often express unconditional support, while women show cautious approval. Older respondents are more confident in the need to involve grandmothers, and people with higher education and incomes over 100,000 rubles per month more often evaluate their role positively.
