Automatic renewal of driver's licenses will be canceled starting next year.
After that date motorists will have to monitor the validity of their driver's licenses themselves and renew them in the standard way. This was reported by Izvestia.
As Turgunboy Zokirov, an assistant at the Department of Administrative Law and Procedure at MGUA, explained, the measure applied to those whose licenses expired from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2025. Such licenses were automatically extended for three years.
"If the validity of a license expires, for example, on December 31, 2025, then it will be valid until December 30, 2028. But if the validity expires on January 1, 2026, there will be no automatic extension," the expert noted.
Zokirov stressed that drivers should carefully check the expiration date of their license so as not to violate the law.
It was previously reported that a new law will come into force on January 1, 2027, providing for the annulment of driver's licenses if a driver is found to have dangerous illnesses. Restoring them will require undergoing a new medical examination.
