A proposal was made in Kirov Oblast to increase the number of deputies in the Legislative Assembly.

      Recently Sokolov met with representatives of the factions of the regional Legislative Assembly. The main topic was the discussion of the draft budget and plans for the region's development for the coming year. Special attention at the meeting was paid to the idea of expanding the number of deputies in the Legislative Assembly. Sokolov said that due to the growing population of Kirov it is necessary to increase the number of deputies from 40 to 45. It is proposed that 30 deputies be elected in single-member constituencies and 15 by party lists. According to the governor, this will increase deputies' accountability to voters and ensure broader representation of various political forces in the region's parliament.
