A man has been detained in Kirov on charges of promoting terrorism.

      In Kirov, officers of the regional FSB directorate halted the unlawful activities of a local resident. According to the agency, the man was spreading calls to carry out violent acts against representatives of the authorities and also justified the actions of Ukrainian special services against Russia's critical infrastructure facilities.

      A criminal case has been opened against the Kirov resident by the investigative division of the regional FSB under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (public calls for the commission of terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism).

      The maximum punishment under this article is imprisonment for up to seven years, the directorate reminded.
