In Kirov, on Svobody Street, schoolchildren and preschoolers are risking their lives.
Parents of pupils of School No. 20 and Kindergarten No. 67 appealed to the regional branch of the People’s Front with a complaint about the absence of safe crossings on Svobody Street in the area of its intersection with Militskaya Street.
According to the organization, there are no pedestrian crossings, signs, or road markings on that stretch of road. Hundreds of people cross the road here every day, yet drivers do not stop even when a child steps onto the roadway. Drivers often honk at teachers escorting children to the public transport stop, claiming that the pedestrians are in the wrong.
“The city administration promised us that on Svobody Street, on the side of School No. 20, they will add road markings and install signs. As for the section of Svobody Street where the Central Market is located, no crossing is planned there. To check whether these sections of road comply with regulatory requirements, we have filed a request with the prosecutor’s office,” said the head of the regional branch of the People’s Front, Valeria Cheremisinova.
