A fire broke out in the village of Uni in Kirov Oblast. During yesterday’s thunderstorm, lightning pierced the roof of a residential house. As a result, the roof battens caught fire, a rafter beam split, and a fluorescent light fixture in the kitchen burst. A circuit breaker also melted.
The woman who was at home did not panic. She immediately looked into the attic, saw the fire, and called the firefighters. Within 10 minutes, Ministry of Emergency Situations personnel extinguished the fire, which affected an area of 1 square meter.
It is worth noting that the local resident had switched off the electricity as the storm approached, thereby preventing significant damage from the lightning strike. Citizens are advised to install lightning protection systems to safeguard their homes from storms.
