Makh denied spying on users.
A message is circulating on social networks that the Russian messenger Max uses users' computer cameras continuously: it connects to them every 5–10 minutes. As Kommersant reports, citing Max's press service, the user's camera is activated only when specific functions like video calls are launched. And without active user action the app does not request access to the camera and does not use it.
Recall that earlier in the Kirov region an order was signed for the mass transfer of officials, teachers, medical workers and even parents of schoolchildren to "Max." But Governor Alexander Sokolov, head of the Kirov administration Vyacheslav Simakov, other "important figures" of the region and a number of regional departments have so far not invited people to their channels. Although the project's "roadmap" states that by August 8, 2025 all executive bodies must register their employees in the messenger, and by August 15 create working chats. The order separately notes that a governor's channel will also appear in "Max."
