Five more weight and dimensional control points may be installed in the Kirov region.

      Today, on June 23, at a meeting of the government of the Kirov region, the discussion of the development of the system of automatic weight and dimensional control points in the region (APVGC) began with the phrase of Governor Alexander Sokolov that a normal person who does not work in the government and is not immersed in the road construction system, it turns out, does not know what the real prices of roads are, therefore I asked the speaker to focus on ordinary citizens and tell them in practice.

      So, at the moment, the region continues to develop a system of automatic weight and dimensional control points (APVGK). In November last year, two such posts were in operation in the Kirov region, but after the incident with the Moloma Bridge, or rather on May 11, the remaining three were operational. Currently, five such posts have been installed on the main highways of the region: two on the Kirov–Malmyzh–Vyatsky Polyany highway, one on the Kirov–Kirovo-Chepetsk–Zuyevka–Falenki–border of the Udmurt Republic highway, and two more on the Kirov–Sovetsk–Yaransk highway. They record around the clock who is riding on the roads and with what weight.

      According to the speaker, the installation of all points cost about 420 million rubles, the cost of one point was about 83 million rubles. At the same time, the cost of maintaining the weight and dimensional control system will be about 75 million rubles per year, and providing one point annually will cost the regional budget about 15 million rubles.

      According to Elena Shikhova, Deputy Minister of Transport, almost 600 protocols have been issued during the work of the APVGC, and the amount of fines is 238 million rubles. Drivers try to deceive the system: they close their license plates, form columns, and even drive into oncoming traffic. To stop these tricks, artificial intelligence is being tested in the region to recognize hidden numbers and mobile control points are being launched.

      The governor instructed the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Internal Affairs to keep the weighing points under control and to involve traffic police crews more actively.
